Why Uhmwpe Sheet Cannot Be Thermoplastically Moulded
Users with knowledge of UHMWPE sheet and other related sheet products may know that the product is a polymer with extremely high viscosity in the form of a powder with a typical particle size range of 100-200 microns. Because of its high viscosity, UHMWPE sheet cannot be processed by ordinary thermoplastic moulding methods. Instead, UHMWPE particles are melted and sintered into blanks or profiles under high temperature and pressure using a high temperature moulding or plunger extrusion process, followed by subsequent machining if necessary.
UHMWPE sheets can also be modified with additives, and their wear and corrosion resistance make them uniquely suited for use in chemical machinery. The use of UHMWPE products instead of metal materials made of acid-resistant pumps, transmission machinery, pumps, bushings, sealing gaskets, gears, etc., not only greatly extends the service life, but also makes the cost greatly reduced.
